Brampton's share of 2025 federal incorporations
10,870 corporations in our 2025 federal incorporation dataset had a Brampton registered office. That is 12.7% of the 85,289 corporations analyzed, spread across 9,497 distinct address strings.
Brampton,
Ontario, is a prominent part of the geographic pattern in this research. This article examines its registered-office counts, comparison with other cities, company-name patterns and concentration across postal areas. The national incorporation report covers provinces, directors, names and incorporation dates.
These figures cover federal corporations incorporated in 2025 in our dataset. Directors, names and addresses reflect the August 2026 collection snapshot.
Collected registry data for federal CBCA corporations incorporated in 2025. Addresses reflect the August 2026 snapshot. This excludes provincial incorporations and is not an official count of every Canadian incorporation. A registered office does not necessarily identify where the business operates or a founder lives.
A substantial share of the dataset
The 10,870 Brampton records account for approximately one in eight corporations in the dataset. This is a share of the federal dataset, not Brampton's share of all Canadian business formation: provincial corporations and unincorporated businesses are outside the study.
The registry tells us which city appears in the registered-office field. It does not explain why that location was chosen, whether a corporation is trading, or whether its founders live nearby. Those distinctions matter when interpreting Brampton's count.
How Brampton compares with other locations
Brampton has the second-largest count among the locations shown below, after the combined Toronto city labels. Mississauga and Ottawa follow.

Selected locations. Toronto combines Toronto, Scarborough, North York, Etobicoke, York and East York. Other locations use recorded city labels. This is not a metro-area comparison.

| Registered-office location | Corporations | Percentage |
|---|---|---|
| Toronto (combined labels) | 15,596 | 18.3% |
| Brampton | 10,870 | 12.7% |
| Mississauga | 5,334 | 6.3% |
| Ottawa | 4,604 | 5.4% |
| Montréal | 2,479 | 2.9% |
| Calgary | 1,954 | 2.3% |
| Markham | 1,679 | 2.0% |
| Kitchener | 1,371 | 1.6% |
| Oakville | 1,369 | 1.6% |
| London | 1,364 | 1.6% |
Toronto's 15,596 records combine Toronto (12,957), Scarborough (960), North York (929), Etobicoke (586), York (71) and East York (93). Using only the “Toronto” label would undercount the city in this comparison. Other locations retain the source report's city-label groups; spelling and accented variants are not consolidated. These are selected registry groupings, not exhaustive municipal totals or a comparison of metropolitan areas.
We have not divided these counts by population. Doing so would require population estimates for a consistent reference year and a verified geographic boundary match.
What Brampton's company names show
7,190 of the 10,870 Brampton corporations (66.1%) have numbered names. The other 3,680 (33.9%) have word names. Among the 74,419 corporations elsewhere in this dataset, 29,586 (39.8%) have numbered names. Brampton's percentage is 26.4 percentage points higher.

Words appearing in company names
Transport-related wording is more common among Brampton's records: 510 names (4.7%) contain at least one of truck, logistic, transport, carrier or freight, compared with 1,436 (1.9%) elsewhere in the dataset. Consulting-related wording appears less often: 115 names (1.1%), compared with 2,039 (2.7%) elsewhere.
| Wording theme | Brampton (10,870 corporations) | Elsewhere in dataset (74,419 corporations) |
|---|---|---|
| Consulting | 115 (1.1%) | 2,039 (2.7%) |
| Transport and logistics | 510 (4.7%) | 1,436 (1.9%) |
| Construction and renovation | 171 (1.6%) | 1,154 (1.6%) |
| Health and care | 86 (0.8%) | 1,122 (1.5%) |
| Property and real estate | 36 (0.3%) | 350 (0.5%) |
These are patterns in names, not industry counts. A keyword may be part of a longer word, a name can match more than one theme, and a numbered name usually provides no clue to business activity. The findings do not measure Brampton's trucking sector, employment or founder demographics.
The comparison uses case-insensitive substring matches: consult; truck, logistic, transport, carrier, freight; construction, renovat, contract; health, care, clinic; and realty, property, real estate. Each corporation is counted once per matching theme. The groups can overlap and should not be added together.
For the practical distinction between numbered and word names, see company names in Canada. The national report's legal-identifier breakdown compares endings such as Inc., Ltd. and Corp.
Many recorded addresses, with limits to what that means
The Brampton records contain 9,497 distinct registered-office address strings, or approximately 1.14 corporations per address string. These counts were reproduced by grouping normalized street-address and postal-code values in the database.
The large number of strings shows that the entries are distributed across many recorded addresses. It does not establish how many unique buildings are involved. Different spellings, unit formats or other variations can separate records that refer to one location.
It also does not establish whether the addresses are homes, commercial premises or corporate-service providers. Those classifications require evidence beyond the registry fields used here.
For the practical privacy implications of choosing an address, read what business information is public and using a home address for a corporation.
The leading postal areas
The five highest-count forward sortation areas in the full dataset are Brampton postal areas. A forward sortation area is the first three characters of a postal code. L7A leads with 2,180 corporations, followed by L6R with 1,735.

| L6P | 1,471 | 1.7% |

The postal-area chart groups all dataset records by postal code, independently of their city label. For example, 2,163 of the 2,180 L7A records use “Brampton” as their recorded city. This is why the postal counts should not be treated as an exact partition of the 10,870 Brampton city-label records.
The figures describe counts, not rates per resident or household. No conclusion about founder demographics or the industries operating in these areas follows from these counts alone.

Methodology and source
This study uses the same 85,289-corporation population as the 2025 Federal Incorporation Statistics report. The registry data was collected on August 14, 2026; the incorporation dates fall in 2025.
The aggregate findings were checked against the original collected records. Brampton uses a case-normalized and trimmed city label. Distinct address strings combine the normalized street-address field with the postal code after removing spaces. Toronto combines the six labels listed above. Postal areas use the first three characters of the normalized postal code.
The dataset is not an official total of every federal incorporation in 2025. Registry addresses can change after incorporation. No national municipal-boundary matching, residential classification or founder-identity analysis is claimed. See the national report for the complete coverage limitations.
Downloads and citation
Each chart provides an accessible table and CSV, PNG and SVG downloads. City and postal-area chart percentages use 85,289 corporations. The Brampton name chart uses 10,870 corporations; the comparison table uses 10,870 for Brampton and 74,419 for elsewhere in the dataset. The files contain aggregate counts, not individual director or street-address records.

September 22, 2026: Created this companion study from the national report's Brampton analysis. Verified the city and address counts against the database and clarified the Toronto and postal-area groupings. Added numbered-name and keyword comparisons with separate location denominators and explicit matching terms.
